Membership

All are welcome to become members of the Western Pennsylvania Civil War Roundtable. The only requirement is an interest in the Civil War and learning more about it.

The WPACWRT meets the third Wednesday of every month excluding January (no meeting) and July (North Park picnic instead). The meetings are held at the Edgeworth Elementary School in Edgeworth, PA. except for June and August (Edgeworth school closed). In June and August, our meetings are held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ambridge. The meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. Each month we host a speaker who will address a topic related to the Civil War, e.g., battles, personalities, etc. The meetings are free and open to members of the public of all ages. In the past we have hosted such speakers as Dr. James Robertson, Dr. Joseph Harsh, Brian Pohanka, Jeffrey Wert, Pulitzer Prize winner Mark Neeley, and other distinguished scholars.

All members are invited to attend the annual field trip to a civil war battlefield. Our tour guide has been Ed Bearss, historian Emeritus for the National Parks.

We also partake in other short trips, volunteer projects for battlefield preservation, and annual picnics. Our members range from scholarly writers to those merely interested in learning more about the civil war. a family membership is only $25 per year and entitles the member to the monthly newsletter “Stray Shots” and to priority access to all trips. For more information contact Dave Fisher, president 412-884-1536 or Pat Tacy, secretary treasurer 412-787-2717.
